LOOKING GOOD, FEELING GOOD

just a street style snap that i was into. it's starting to get pretty cold here and i think it's that time of year to get a little shopping in.

DEBBIE CARLOS

i am really into the work of DEBBIE CARLOS- a photographer from chicago. she takes her images and blows them up poster style. there's something about the accessibility of the work as a poster and the dullness of the colors the way they get blown out half tone style that i really respond to. they have a freshness and nostalgia to them that make me excited. as someone who is still settling in to my new place, i think one of the window posters might have to make it in here somewhere.

IN FULL SWING

28 October 2010

current state of mind and favorite image from STEVEN BURKE

hello everyone! i am back after being out of the country! i went to the U.K. with ROB strictly along for the ride and getting to hang out with him for the first time on tour together. it was pretty fun. we went to a few different places...nottingham, london and birmingham where i saw the super sonic music festival and will tell you about more of it soon. as of now, i am getting back into the full swing of things and starting busy prep for the holidays. who doesn't need a holiday card these days?

THE ACCIDENTAL JOKE

16 October 2010

my friend , MATTEAH, and i collaborate on a lot of things. our most recent venture is a poster series of jokes, stories and sightings. the first in the series is the accidental joke poster. the poster is comprised of snippets and drawings of childhood jokes, jokes off candy wrappers, things heard wrong, things said wrong, etc. the fine folks at DRAG CITY RECORDS so graciously decided to put it out and had this to say about it...

The mysterious Baim & Lazar have produced Modren art, priced to move into your freewheeling flat. Though we're only on a last-name basis with these creators, their mode is casual, friendly and even, dare we say it, silly? Yes, modden aht can be silly too. Hanging this on your dormroom wall might just tear down the walls of whatever stuffy old institution is skooling you. The rest of us in the world have the freedom to put this up with no fear of retribution as the free expressionistas that we are.

now, you can be the judge of it and pre-order yours today for the fair fine price of 10 bones. it officially goes on sale in your favorite book, record and magic shops on tuesday the 19th.

NAILS AND A HAMMER

14 October 2010

i like that everyone has been paying attention to nails as part of the makeup for fashion shows. i am always looking for a good nail color so, it's nice that designers have been making custom colors and nail color collections. not that things need to be matchy matchy just another accessory. these nails are from the mcqueen fashion show.

MIRAGE MIRAGE

i love deborah bowness' hand printed trompe l'oeil wallpapers. i like the way they look like a photocopy that has been hand colored. i also love the idea of ready made wall art.

IT ALL COULD HAVE BEEN A DREAM

13 October 2010

chanel's spring collection was inspired by the movie LAST YEAR IN MARIENBAD, a beautiful dream like mystery of a movie filled with fragments of love loss or love that was never gained. it's the story of a man searching for his love which he may have or may have not actually met. it takes place in a luxurious chateau complete with fountains, a garden and a beautiful wardrobe originally created by coco herself. it seemed like a really fitting modern interpretation of the movie. it sort of looks like a see-through mirage of thoughts and memories.
