BY AND BY is excited to showcasing new drawings by husband and wife team Robert A. A. Lowe and Rose Lazar. The show runs from February 26 through March 31, with an opening reception on Friday February 26 from 6-9pm


The art opening coninsides with Thrill Jockey's release of "Eclipses" a limited edition LP, featuring the music of Lowe and the visual artwork of both Lowe and Lazar.

A year ago, Thrill Jockey released "Gyromancy," a limited edition art book & CD release from Lowe & Lazar. "Eclipses" is a variant on the same tradition.

Lowe currently records under the moniker Lichens and is also a member of Singer. He is returning from a long journey abroad with the band Om. He also does freelance design work. Lazar creates a line of paper goods called The Great Lakes in which she hand draws and hand prints all of the work.

i love birds. i had a pet canary named lily when i was 5. she was great. i sort of told myself i would never keep a bird again, but i can't help it. i just love them so. especially these guys. zebra finch and peach canaries. so pretty. i can't even handle that magical peach puff of a canary.

TUMBLING

vanessa bruno teams up with lou doillon for another short film presenting the season's attire. i love every minute of it. especially when lou takes a tumble down a sand dune. check it out here.

THAT SUITES ME JUST FINE

my friend jess is a classy lady. and now she's a classy lady who makes even classier stationery. her line is called suitor. it recalls a time when everyone had their own set of personalized stationery that they would take out not just for special occasions but more so to write their grocery lists. she offers personalized stationery sets and calling cards but also has a sweet line of folded notes, too. all of it is letterpress printed on thick luxurious paper and the envelopes have beautiful corresponding liners. old school style. take that mrs. strong.

i always go back to him. elliott smith. just rediscovered xo, the record that got him somewhat famous. i can't stop listening to it.

TAKE FLIGHT

alexander mcqueen passed away. this is terribly sad for fashion. one of my favorite clothing collections of all times was his spring 2008 work. his presence will be greatly missed. and i don't mean to sound maudlin, but i just feel like so many amazing and talented people have passed away this year, some i know- some i don't, that i feel we owe it to all of them to pick up the reins and keep making and creating and doing more. RIP friends.

WHAT THE WHAT?!

i don't usually buy into the novelty items. i most definitely do not buy things like printed tights, but seriously- i love these. the tights are by les queues de sardines and all i can think about are the madeline stories where she would get stuck in the rain.

COINCIDENCE?

i like to buy magazines. i bought some today not realizing that almost every one had the lovely charlotte in them. she is a personal favorite of mine and i have been listening to her new album non-stop. so even though i can rest assure that she's getting so much press for her new projects, a little part of me thinks she may be trying to tell me something like, "come back to paris rose. start smoking and drinking espresso and have a croissant with me...." the list goes on. don't worry, i'm not gonna go all single white female on you.
